A court in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province launched a questionnaire for divorce cases. Composed by judges, the questionnaire is designed to evaluate the condition of a marriage. Judges review a divorcing couple’s answers and decide on the merits of the marriage’s irreversibility.

According to Sina news, couples seeking divorce in the Weiyang District of Xi'an must pass this test before divorce-court papers are granted.

Judge Xue Mindan said that the questionnaire is useful in providing a snapshot of the marriage.

“The judge will review the history of the relationship and the couple’s expectation for the future. Situations considered devoid of serious conflicts will be deemed salvageable, and those laden with difficulties and display evidence of irreparable damage will be granted divorce,” Xue said.

The questions include: "How long have you been dating? What is your wedding anniversary? How do you dole out family responsibilities?" "When you disagree, which of you breaks the deadlock, and how is the situation usually resolved?

According to Xue, husband and wife must score below 60 percent for a divorce to be granted.
