Armed robbers broke into a Chinese institute on Thursday (local time) in Equatorial Guinea, according to the official site of the Chinese embassy.

The embassy has lodged solemn representations to Equatorial Guinea and urged them to solve the case. China also asked the country to take measures to safeguard the security and legitimate rights of Chinese citizens and institutions there.

The embassy also warned Chinese citizens and enterprises to strengthen their own security awareness and equip themselves with the necessary facilities for self-defense.

Shops should close at night, the embassy added.
