The Beijing government said Friday the number of adult smokers in the city has dropped to 3.39 million, or by 200,000 people, since it implemented its strictest regulation in 2015.

The Information Office of the Beijing Government and Beijing Family Planning Commission told a press conference that in 2017, Beijing hygiene supervisors inspected 121,621 smoking-free public places, 95% of which have met supervision standards. This is an improvement over the previous 77%.

An employee at the Beijing Family Planning Commission said Beijing medical institutions provided intervention services to 7.42 million smokers.  61 hospitals have smoking cessation clinics.
