A senior official of China’s Ministry of Commerce said Friday that while China opposes any trade war, it is not afraid of one.

Chen Fuli, the deputy head of the Department of Treaty and Law under the Ministry of Commerce, added that China has made sound and overall preparations with regard to the Section 301 investigation launched by the US.

“China will pay close attention to the progress of the Section 301 Investigation. As soon as the US issues relevant measures, China will punch back without hesitation,” Chen said.
