Washington (People's Daily) - From April 16 to 22, the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank are being held in Washington, DC. The gatherings come at a challenging time for the world economy after years of growth since the financial crisis.

People's Daily conducted an exclusive interview with Gian Maria Milesi-Ferretti, the deputy director of IMF's Research Department.

He said that Chinese economy continues to play a fairly important leading role in global economic growth with bright prospects.
