Explosion jolts Taiwan oil refinery

A refinery in Taoyuan, Taiwan exploded early Monday morning, January 29. 

Flames engulfed the surrounding area as residents three miles away were jolted out of bed by the sound of the explosions.  

China Times Electronics News (CTEN) said the incident occurred at the Taiwan China Petroleum oil refinery in Mingsheng North Road, Turtle Mountain District, Taoyuan City.

Taoyuan City fire department was inundated with telephone calls from people wanting to know more. 

Investigators on the scene discovered the fire started from the third or fourth floor.

An investigation is underway and no casualties have been reported as of this time.
