China will host four major events for its 2018 diplomatic agenda as the country moves in the direction to build a new type of international relations, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told reporters Thursday.

Wang made the remarks at a press conference on the sidelines of China’s top legislature's annual session.

Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference is set to open next month on the south Chinese island Hainan with a focus on reform and opening-up. Wang said the conference would review China’s successful experience achieved over the past 40 years and sketch new opportunities for the future.

Following the Boao forum are the Qingdao summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in June, Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in September and China International Import Expo in Shanghai at the end of the year.
