Eighteen legislative items cover environmental protection, accounting for more than 18 percent of all legislative motions since the 12th NPC, Lyu Caixia, deputy director of Commission for Legislative Affairs of the NPC Standing Committee, said at a press conference Monday.

She said China has done great work in environmental advancement over the past five years, which can be seen in three aspects.

Eighteen legislative items are about environmental protection. What's more, the legislature is people-centered, and is problem-driven. The legislature aims to solve the realistic issue based on China’s situation.

PM2.5 was lowered by 30 percent in key areas, but environmental protection is long-term, she added.
