Los Angeles (People's Daily) - A gunman opened fire Friday morning and appears to be holding three hostages, at least, at the largest veterans' home in the US, AP reported.
Police in SWAT gear locked down the Veterans Home of California, a sprawling property in Yountville. Yountville is located in Northern California’s Napa Valley, which is renowned for its wine.
So far, there are no reports of injuries or deaths. Details remain sketchy, but according to AP, the gunman burst into an ongoing party and requested certain persons leave, while holding others.
The Pathway Home is a privately-run program that treats veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
Police radio transmissions spoke of a 5-foot-6 suspect, CBS reported, and close to 30 shots being fired at deputies. Some reports indicated the gunman is packing a rifle and could be wearing body armor.
