"We have resolute will, full confidence and enough capacity to defeat all kinds of separatist activities in the name of 'Taiwan independence'," said Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, on Friday.
Ma made the remarks when being asked if the mainland's announcement to hold live-fire military drills in the Taiwan Straits on April 18 was a warning toward "Taiwan independence" rhetoric and separatist activities.
Ma said the Chinese mainland has reiterated its resolute opposition to "Taiwan independence."
"We will safeguard China's sovereignty and territorial integrity," Ma added.
