On Saturday around 12:00 pm a man shot himself in front of the White House.

Moments later Secret Service personnel tweeted, "Secret Service personnel are responding to reports of a person who allegedly suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound along the north fence line of the White House.”

The White House was immediately placed on lockdown and staff were ordered to remain inside.

US President Donald Trump was not at the White House at the time of the alleged shooting. It was reported that the president was at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

By mid-afternoon it was reported that the man had died from the gunshot wound.

Saturday’s incident marks the second red alert at the White House in less than 10 days. A Tennessee woman intentionally rammed her car into a barrier outside of the White House on February 23rd.
