Nairobi (People's Daily) - Mobike, a Chinese bike sharing giant first showed up in a Sunday race to echo the theme #Beatpollution proposed by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
The bicycle race helping #Beatpollution attracted more than 200 participants. It is an opportunity to create a wider awareness of the merits of sustainable urban infrastructure, while promoting cycling as a significant travel mode.
The #Beatpollution cycling activity responded to the theme—“Towards a pollution-free planet” of the 3rd United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) which will be held in Nairobi from Dec 4 to 6.
Chinese bike-sharing company Mobike provided 100 shared bike to this event. And these 100 bikes will be used in the UN Headquarters (Nairobi) during the Assembly.
Erik Solheim, Executive Director of UNEP, praised the success of Chinese bike-sharing economy and believed that others will learn from Chinese experience in environment protection.
