Acorrding to the 2017 Survey: Outbound Chinese Tourism and Consumption Trend, discount and payment methods, each accounting for 41 percent, are the most important factors influencing Chinese tourists’ spending decisions, while prices are the most important factor for non-Chinese tourists.

Among various methods, both transaction numbers and total amount spent via the mobile payment among Chinese tourists show a trend of growth. Among the Chinese tourists surveyed, 77 percent said they spent more using mobile payments.

A total of 91 percent of Chinese tourists said overseas merchants who support the use of Chinese mobile payment platforms might increase their desire for spending.

Convenience, speed, familiarity and pride for Chinese brands are the top two factors, or 64 percent and 48 percent, respectively, propelling Chinese tourists to use mobile payments, according to the survey.
