China's National People's Congress(NPC) holds a press conference on its legislative work on Monday.
Some Vice Chairpersons and members from different committees of the 12th NPC are taking questions from reporters home and abroad.
Eighteen legislative items cover environmental protection, accounting for more than 18 percent of all legislative motions since the 12th NPC,
Lyu Caixia,a member of the NPC Environment Protection and Resources Conservation Committee, said at a press conference Monday.
She said China has done great work in environmental advancement over the past five years, which can be seen in three aspects.
Eighteen legislative items are about environmental protection. What's more, the legislature is people-centered, and is problem-driven. The legislature aims to solve the realistic issue based on China's situation.
PM2.5 was lowered by 30 percent in key areas, but environmental protection is long-term, she added.
Cultural legislation steadily advances
China's cultural legislation is moving forward at an unprecedented pace and strength, shaping into what includes the cultural relics protection law, the copyright law, the intangible culture heritage protection law and the archives law to date, said Wu Heng, vice chairman of the NPC Education, Science, Culture and Public Health Committee.
The 12th NPC has promulgated the movie promotion law, the public library law and so forth, and reviewed the cultural relics protection law and the archives law, Wu added.
Wang Shengming, vice-chairman of Internal and Judicial Affairs Committee of the 12th NPC, said that deepening the supervision system reform is a major system reform, involving the adjustment of the procuratorates' power in the press conference.
Whether the procuratorate has power or not and how much power it has depends on people’s court’s supervision law and Criminal Procedure Law.
The 13th NPC has passed the supervision law and the Standing Committee will have a further discussion of the people’s procuratorates’ supervision law, Wang added.
Anti-School bullying law amendments suggested
The NPC Standing Committee suggests revising the Law on the Protection of Minors and the Law on Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency, and related discussion will ensue.
Wang Shengming, vice-chairman of Internal and Judicial Affairs Committee of the NPC, said in the press conference.
Wang said the occurrence of school violence and bullying is a heinous problem and the NPC Standing Committee and State Council attach great importance to it.
