De Brouckere Metro station in Brussels center closed, some bus lines diverted as rioters reportedly attack people in the city center.
At least 100 people gathered in a landmark square in downtown Brussels and conducted sabotage Wednesday afternoon before the police intervention.
It is still uncertain as to what triggered the the disruptions, but reports suggest a group identity check by the police could make the incident spiraled out of control.
Young people gathered around the square shot a hip-hop video when things got out of hand. Projectiles were thrown and vehicles were vandalized.
Traffic around the area was partially affected.
By 17:00 p.m. local time, chaos was largely abated and police secured the area.
