Washington (People's Daily) - An official White House statement confirmed that US President Donald Trump told South Korea’s President, Moon Jae-in, he would be willing to participate in multi-party talks with Seoul and Pyongyang to help ease peninsula tension if an opportunity arises.

An official statement said that Trump had “expressed his openness to holding talks between the United States and North Korea at the appropriate time, under the right circumstances.”

It was revealed that US Vice President Mike Pence would lead the American delegation to the PyeongChang Winter Olympics next month.

“The two leaders underscored the importance of continuing the maximum pressure campaign against North Korea,” said the official statement.

Information on when the right time would be for a multi-party roundtable between the countries was not mentioned in the statement.
