Deng Zhonghan, chairman of Vimicro, a video technology supplier in China, talked about the progress of self-developed microchips in China.

The largest material China imports every year is not oil and gas, but microchips. The annual imports can reach up to $200 billion. Without the safety of microchips, the security of messages and the country cannot be guaranteed.

In general, compared with developed countries, China has a long way to go. Firstly, in the future, we should make efforts to catch up with international microchip giants to mature our technology.Second, we should try to overtake emerging international microchip giants in prosperous markets.Thirdly, we need to create new modes, set criteria and form industrial chains in cutting-edge areas.
