The remains of 20 Chinese People’s Volunteer (CPV) soldiers killed in in the Korean War (1950-53) were returned to China from South Korea Wednesday morning.
South Korean soldiers handed over the wooden caskets covered with Chinese national flags to Chinese honor guards at a handover ceremony at Incheon International Airport, at 10 am local time. A Chinese Air Force plane will fly the remains to China.

The handover marks the fifth batch of remains returned since 2014. In 2013, China and South Korea reached an agreement on repatriating the remains of Chinese soldiers excavated from Korean War battlefields.
So far, the remains of 589 Chinese soldiers have been returned, said Gao Xiaobing, Chinese vice minister of civil affairs, at the ceremony.
