Madrid (People's Daily app) - Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Spanish Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Minister Alfonso Dastis held a joint conference following their meeting in Madrid on Thursday.
Wang Yi fielded questions from reporters about the deadly and ongoing conflicts between Palestinian and Israeli forces along the Gaza border.
Wang said peace and life are the two most precious things in the world.
“It is sad to see dozens of lives were lost and thousands wounded during the conflicts. China hopes all relevant parties can maintain calm and restraint and ease the tension as soon as possible,” said Wang.

“Jerusalem is the most sensitive crux of the Palestinian issues. As a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, China will unswervingly support the Middle East peace process and the just cause of the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate rights,” Wang said.
He said China is willing to work with the international community to promote the goal of establishing an independent Palestinian state and a two states, and peaceful dialogue to solve Palestinian issues in a comprehensive, fair, and proper way as quickly as possible.
