The Chinese New Year Gala, or chunwan, is one of the most popular broadcasts each Spring Festival. The broadcast is produced by China Central Television, which invites thousands of performers and celebrities to give a five-hour live show on the eve of Spring Festival, the Chinese Lunar New Year.

The gala has a viewership of more than 700 million, making it one of the premier TV events in China.
