Founded in 1951, the Confederation of Mongolian Journalists is a nationwide, membership, non-governmental organization affiliating on voluntary basis journalists, media representatives, media institutions and media-related professional associations. The confederation aims to protect the professional rights of its members, increase their capacity and capability, provide support for ensuring financial independence, promote foreign relations and engage members in national and international grants, trainings, events and scholarships.

Media organizations operating on the territory of Mongolia are the members of the confederation which has 23 branch counsels in 21 provinces and 2 cities of Mongolia and over 4000 members.
