The history of Zambia Daily Mail Limited dates back to February 23, 1960 when the first edition of the African Mail was published in the then Northern Rhodesia. The independent newspaper was published weekly.

Zambia Daily Mail Limited is one of the leading daily newspapers in Zambia, with a market share of more than 40 percent. It also publishes an online version of the newspaper and recently embarked on publishing an electronic version of the newspapers.

It employs more than 250 people and has offices in all the 10 provinces of the country. It is credited for its objectivity, factuality and depth of stories.

It has embarked on a number of innovations especially in the area of ICTs, meant to drive the business of the company.

As a government-owned newspaper, the Zambia Daily Mail’s editorial row has been to promote/disseminate government’s policies and activities. It is also mandated to operate as a viable business entity.
