The third China International Import-Expo (CIIE) is being held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10. This is a world-class expo and the world's first national-level exhibition with the theme of imports.
CIIE provides a new channel for countries and regions around the world to conduct business exchanges, strengthen cooperation, and promote the common prosperity of the world economy and trade. This is a major move by the Chinese government to firmly support trade liberalization and actively open the Chinese market to the world.
Following the successful holding of the previous two CIIEs, this year’s CIIE has ushered in a more important and crucial moment, providing a new beacon of hope and optimism for global development in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Global enterprises have provided new business opportunities and injected new confidence into global economic development.
After successfully controlling the pandemic, China quickly recovered its economy. It is the only major country in the world that has achieved economic growth during the epidemic, demonstrating China's strong economic resilience.
Facing the worst economic recession since the Great Depression described by the IMF, China, as the world’s second largest economy and the most important manufacturer in the global value chain, will use its concept of “a shared future” to play an important role in global economic development and world trade.
As Chinese President Xi Jinping said at the opening ceremony of the second CIIE last year, we need to promote development through opening-up and deepen exchanges and cooperation among us, “join hands” with each other instead of “letting go” of each other’s hands, and “tear down walls”, not “erect walls”. Through the platform of the CIIE, China can become a catalyst to promote the win-win cooperation of countries around the world, and it can also allow countries around the world to share the dividends of China's development and achieve common development with China.
Faced with the complex challenges brought by the global economy, China has always insisted that "China will open its doors only wider to the world”, while striving to develop mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation with other countries. The CIIE is a concrete manifestation of the concept of a "community with a shared future for mankind", demonstrating China's role as a responsible major country, and providing global companies with a valuable opportunity to enter the Chinese market.
