As a major country with nearly one-fifth of the world’s population, China’s remarkable achievements in poverty alleviation are an example and encouragement for people all over the world.

It is an epoch-making feat in the world history that China has lifted all the impoverished people, all the impoverished counties out of poverty, under the current standard. Ravaged by the COVID-19 pandemic, China is still able to achieve its goal of poverty alleviation within the set time frame. It is truly amazing. I sincerely congratulate the great Chinese people.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), China has implemented the basic strategy of targeted poverty alleviation, creating a world-renowned poverty alleviation miracle. In just eight years, China has lifted nearly 100 million rural poor people out of poverty, completed the task of eliminating absolute poverty, and achieved the poverty reduction goal of UN 2030 agenda for sustainable development ten years ahead of schedule.

I have been invited to visit China many times and have been to Shanxi, Shaanxi, Liaoning among other provinces. When I was in the rural areas of these provinces, I witnessed not only the hospitality of the Chinese people, but also their strong aspiration for a happy life. What impressed me most was their diligent and independent spirit. Under the leadership of the CPC, it is through their arduous work that the Chinese people have created this unprecedented miracle in poverty alleviation.

"Poverty alleviation has always been a major concern in my heart." "No ethnic group should be left behind in the country’s building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects." President Xi Jinping's deep and fervent concern for the people also deeply touched me. His experience in Liangjiahe Village made him acquainted with the poverty situation in rural areas and helped him establish a natural bond with the rural poor people. Over the past 8 years, President Xi has conducted over 50 inspections on poverty alleviation, and has been to 14 centralized and contiguous impoverished areas, reflecting his deep solicitude for the poor.

Many rural areas in China are exploring their own paths of rural revitalization suitable to their local realities, such as vigorously planting trees and developing photovoltaic power. Gratifying outcomes have been seen in these endeavors. Rural revitalization will not only help farmers earn more, but also ensure China's food security and promote ecological civilization.

Poverty is a common problem and the anti-poverty war is a common task shared by humankind.

While the vast majority of developing countries are struggling with poverty, many developed countries also have troubles in the poverty. As a major country with nearly one-fifth of the world’s population, China’s remarkable achievements in poverty alleviation are an example and encouragement for people all over the world.

China has been actively engaged in international cooperation on poverty reduction, sharing effective practices of itself. Through the Belt and Road Initiative, China joins hands with other countries to break through the bottleneck restricting infrastructure building, provide job opportunities to millions of people and contribute to economic growth and people’s well-being in developing countries. .

China is thriving with each passing day. I hope the pandemic will end soon, so that I can visit China again to see the rural areas that have just shaken off poverty, and to share the joy with the people. I hope that China and Japan will work together to strengthen communication and coordination, under the international multilateral frameworks and regional cooperation mechanisms, to make positive contributions to the prosperity and development of Asia and the whole world.
