Despite the resurgence of COVID-19 cases in Hong Kong, Hong Kong opposition lobbyists held a round of primary elections on July 11 and 12, in an attempt to rig the vote, control the Legislative Council, and topple the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo congratulated the Hong Kong opposition for their “successful primary election” immediately, and also said the United States “will be watching developments closely.”

The so-called “primary election” is illegal and has aroused condemnation from various parties and complaints from the residents of Hong Kong.

However, Pompeo backed the Hong Kong opposition, and sugarcoated these acts as the pursuit of human rights and democracy. In addition, the US signed into law the so-called Hong Kong Autonomy Act on July 14. How could these things have coincided with each other if Hong Kong opposition hadn’t colluded with external forces?

If you take a look at Pompeo, who clamors for “freedom” and “fairness”, one will find the truth is not like that. Under the pretext of democracy, the Hong Kong opposition, through backroom deals, misled the voters and violated the lawful rights and interests of other candidates. There is no “freedom” and “fairness” as they have claimed. Instead, it simply shows that Pompeo is driven by ill intentions.

Since the turbulence over an extradition bill last year, Pompeo has kept interfering in Hong Kong’s own affairs, including personally meeting with anti-China figures who attempted to disrupt Hong Kong, and threatening to deprive Hong Kong of its special status. His true intentions are laid bare for all to see.

Pompeo once said that what is at stake with Hong Kong is that it is a bastion of freedom that can be used to influence China. In the eyes of Pompeo and his kind, it is their freedom to interfere in the affairs of Hong Kong, and to jeopardize China’s national security and contain China’s development that matters, rather than the freedom of the SAR.

It is fair to say that foreign forces are everywhere in the so-called “primary election.” Organizer Benny Tai has worked closely with foreign forces and serves as their political agent in Hong Kong.

In addition, various media have reported that foreign forces financially supported opposition personnel. According to the result of the primary election, Joshua Wong, pawn of foreign forces, won in his district, which is also the evidence of foreign interference.

The real intention of the foreign forces is that they want to have their own political agents, ensure places of their agents in the Legislative Council, have jurisdiction over Hong Kong and instigate a “color revolution.” Every Hong Kong resident should see right through their evil intentions.

The upcoming election for the Legislative Council will be a major event of the political life in Hong Kong, and will concern the overall interests of Hong Kong’s society and the wellbeing of every resident.

Those who advocate “mutual destruction” hope to win more than 35 seats to gain a majority in the legislature, so that they will veto the 2020-2021 budget, paralyze the HKSAR government and realize mutual destruction on all fronts.

If nothing is done to prevent such a tactic, the consequences will severely damage the economic development of the SAR and the livelihood of local people. Moreover, the city will be pushed into an abyss of riots, violence and chaos, which means the interests of every resident will be harmed.

It is believed that anyone who truly loves Hong Kong will not want to see such a consequence.

Many net users expressed “Hong Kong is part of China”, “leave Hong Kong alone” and “the election of Hong Kong has nothing to with the US” after Pompeo expressed his congratulations.

Listen to the voices of Hong Kong residents, and stop interfering in Hong Kong’s affairs and China’s domestic affairs at once. Pompeo and his ilk should shift their attention to the American people struggling with the COVID-19 crisis. In this way, more lives will be saved.
