Recently, an audio message that a Hong Kong police officer sent to his co-worker has stung the hearts of many Chinese people. He was attacked at his job by violent protesters with strong acid, suffering from severe skin burns. In a trembling and hoarse voice, the officer said that he was in great pains from burning wound and it almost drove him crazy. Some of his colleagues burst into tears after receiving his message.

Since the violent protests started in early June, Hong Kong police have shown outstanding bravery and courage in wake of radical violence. They maintained the social order and uphold the rule of law in Hong Kong.

The radicals have made the Hong Kong police their target from the very beginning. Some police officers said that they are not afraid of radical mobs, it is the misunderstanding from Hong Kong civilians that demoralizes the police force.

Hong Kong's opposition and some radical forces have been spreading vicious rumors in an effort to shift the blame onto the police and mislead the public.

Known as one of the world's finest forces, the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) has served and protected the city for 175 years. One of HKPF's fundamental duties is to safeguard Hong Kong from violent crimes, and that is why they cannot back down from the fight with radical protesters.

Some people criticize the measures the police have taken to subdue the rioters. To be fair, the intensity of police enforcement is determined by the extent of violence by the rioters. In the past 20 days alone, the police have received more than 80 cases of arson and 752 cases of criminal damage. The rioters destroyed businesses, beat the Hong Kong residents, blocked roads, checked cars, threw burning bottles, set up remote-controlled bombs, cut the neck of a police officer…The brutality even shows signs of terrorism. With the whole city shrouded in such a "black horror", it is absurd to accuse the police of excessive law enforcement. Not to mention the Hong Kong police always maintain the greatest tolerance and restraint in the full right to use more effective force and means. That fact can be easily seen if you compare the Hong Kong police with their counterparts in some areas where demonstrations occurred recently in the world.

Who will be there to protect Hong Kong if the police are taken down? The only people who fear the police are the opposition party and rioters. They chanted "Disband the police" and "Restructure the police troops" to incite anti-police sentiments. Their aim is to bring down the guardians of social order in Hong Kong, paralyze the HKSAR government and seize the power of ruling Hong Kong. If Hong Kong residents fall into this trap, they are destructing the cornerstones that ensure the safety, stability and harmony of Hong Kong with their own hands.

The situation in Hong Kong is more critical than ever. The central government resolutely supports the Hong Kong police in fulfilling its duties to end violence and restore social order. Hong Kong's police is a reliable force that protects Hong Kongers and the SAR government that governs the city in accordance with law. Supporting the Hong Kong police is safeguarding Hong Kong.
