After shutting down thousands of accounts originating from the Chinese mainland last month, Twitter recently permanently suspended as many as 4,301 Chinese accounts, stating that these accounts were "state-backed" and had violated the "values" and the "policies on platform manipulation."

In an announcement, Twitter's safety team alleged the Chinese accounts shut down this August were "state-backed" and "deliberately and specifically attempting to sow political discord in Hong Kong."

The reasons given by Twitter are ironically the most unreasonable allegations which have reversed right and wrong.

The radical and violent activities of the Hong Kong opposition are illegal and criminal, and have been increasingly proven to be a color revolution aimed at seizing control of Hong Kong.

While shutting down the accounts that revealed the true colors of the rioters in Hong Kong, Twitter turned a blind eye to accounts that slander.

Is it in the values of Twitter to glorify violent acts while ignoring the villainies of the rioters who have turned Hong Kong into chaos and repeatedly encouraging them in their acts of violence?

The "transparency and openness" boasted by Twitter is in fact selectively turning blind, and the values Twitter believes in are ignoring facts and saying one thing but doing another, completely disregarding objectivity.

As a global social media platform, Twitter should have stuck to the norms of justice and fairness, or at least taken a fair stand. However, its recent moves have only shown its arrogance and prejudice and the lack of sincerity and rationality. Is Twitter planning to serve as the vanguard of the forces that attempt to topple the HKSAR government?

It was no accident that Twitter chose to back Hong Kong rioters, since the recent jaw-dropping acts of some US lawmakers have already said a lot about the US inclination towards these rioters.

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senator Marco Rubio, and Representative Jim McGovern, vowed to advance a bill meddling in Hong Kong matters, met with Hong Kong separatists, including Joshua Wong and Denise Ho, and invited them to testify before the Congress.

Twitter's global public policy head Colin Crowell followed suit, meeting Wong and Ho and posing for a photo, which explained why Twitter blocked accounts revealing the violent side of Hong Kong protesters.

Hong Kong's democracy was established and developed after it returned to the motherland. Since then, the rights and freedom of Hong Kong citizens have been fully protected by law. Who-ever wants to make carping remarks would be making a huge mistake.

It is even more ridiculous to meet those who have an ulterior motive to destabilize Hong Kong like Wong. These people are notorious for the serious harm they have done to Hong Kong and are loathed by the majority who love Hong Kong and China.

The US has long been criticized for its poor record on human rights. Instead of cleaning its own house first, Washington keeps interfering in China's internal affairs, making irresponsible remarks on Hong Kong matters.

Some American politicians constantly accuse other countries of interfering in the internal affairs of the US while they themselves openly collude with the radicals in other countries and unscrupulously put their fingers in others' pies. Such a double standard is beneath contempt.

Hong Kong's affairs are internal affairs of China and China will never succumb to any form of pressure. The Western forces seeking to undermine the "one country, two systems" principle and harm the peace and prosperity in Hong Kong by provoking chaos are doomed to fail.
