The US has abruptly ordered China to close its Consulate General in Houston, which came as a surprise as such a move could be very damaging to the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

However, such an act is not entirely unexpected as it is merely one of the evil deeds conducted by some US politicians recently. The Chinese government and people are well prepared for any tricks that the US is trying to play.

It is a political provocation unilaterally launched by the US against China, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in China.

China urges the US to immediately revoke the wrong decision, or China will make legitimate and necessary responses.

It is well known that countries in the world have formed international treaties and bilateral agreements concerning diplomatic agencies and diplomats, formulated basic principles and reached consensus on the issue.

Trampling on such principles and consensus in front of the world equals an evildoing that will only leave stains on history.

Such a move of the US seriously violates international law and basic norms governing international relations and seriously violates the bilateral consular agreement between China and the US.

The US, however, has claimed that the attempt meant to protect American intellectual property and Americans' private information, which is absolutely absurd.

The Chinese diplomatic missions in the US have always been committed to promoting mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese and American peoples. China has also facilitated the performance of duties of US diplomatic agencies and personnel in China.

In contrast, the US has imposed unwarranted restrictions on Chinese diplomats in its country twice--in October last year and June this year, even opened Chinese diplomatic bags privately on many occasions, and seized Chinese official supplies.

Due to US recent wanton stigmatization and incitement to hatred toward the Chinese side, the Chinese Embassy in the US has recently received bomb and death threats against Chinese diplomatic agencies and personnel in the US. Moreover, the website of the US Embassy in China has often publicly published articles attacking China.

The international community and history are well aware of who are interfering in the internal affairs of other countries and who are engaging in infiltration and confrontation.

For a period of time, some American officials have insanely withdrawn from many international organizations and agreements, and provoked conflicts with other countries whenever they didn't get their own way, which have caused harm to the American people and brought uncertainties to the world.

The US has severely challenged the rule and red line by ordering China, a country that has established diplomatic relations with the US, to close its Consulate General. It fully demonstrates that the American government has made serious mistakes in its strategies concerning China, which is both arrogant and silly.

It is frightening that the US is manipulated by these officials; it is sad that the international community has been frequently disturbed by these officials; it is unfortunate that the American people are under the government of these officials.

Faced with the raging epidemic in America that has infected several million people and caused over 140,000 fatalities, these officials did not take measures to contain the virus nor felt guilty about the loss of life.

Instead, they have been engaged in shifting the shame, only to portray themselves as clowns in the world, which is pathetic, ridiculous and disgusting.

As the first Consulate General that China established in the US, the one in Houston has witnessed the journey of China-US relations, which is a result of the efforts of Chinese and American people and many people with insight and shouldn't be smeared and distorted by some US politicians.

China does not cause trouble, and yet is not afraid of it. If the US government determines to go its own way and refuse to undo the wrong decision, the Chinese government will surely take all necessary measures with the unwavering support of the Chinese people.
