A Philippine plane crashed on Saturday during a training flight in Comillas town in Tarlac province in the Philippines main Luzon island, injuring the pilot and his student, aviation authorities said.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said the Cessna 172 plane went down shortly before 10:00 a.m. local time due to engine failure. The plane took off at the Clark airport at 7:29 a.m. local time but sought an emergency landing more than two hours later, CAAP said.

The pilot and his student, an Indian national, were taken to a local hospital, authorities said.

An investigation is underway to look into the accident, CAAP said.
