Three years ago, Zhao Deli's business failed. But he didn't give up, and he engaged in his "flying dream" in his friend’s warehouse. The photo shows Zhao studying aircraft technology at the research and development office. (Photos: VCG)
Zhao once worked as an agent of an aircraft model company, and became the inventor of the UAV patent and the seller of model aircraft on Alibaba global express, and contacted the top flight devices in the world. He hopes that the unmanned aircraft can fly without pilots, and autonomous flights become safer than manual driving.
Zhao was born in the countryside of Hunan Province in 1998, and he moved from his hometown to Dongguan, where he had many jobs. His wife supported him a lot in his career.
In the first one or two years, Zhao did tests on the ground. His aircraft failed many times, which required expensive repairs and maintenance. His friend said that he has invested more than 20 million yuan in the development of manned aircraft.
Every time before flight, Zhao had to check every part of the flying motorcycle carefully. The turnaround took place on June 26, 2018, when the aircraft "hovered directly for 6 meters, and landed steadily".
In Zhao’s view, passenger carrying aircraft can be applied in many fields, like low-altitude travel in cities and air sightseeing in scenic spots. But some experts doubt the prospect of Zhao's manned aircraft, citing safety and regulation as major concerns.
