When Hagibis made landfall on the Izu Peninsula on Japan's main island of Honshu at around 7 p.m. local time Saturday, it lashed through Tokyo and another 11 prefectures, causing huge blackouts and collapsed river banks.
After entering the dock, the ship hung a banner in Chinese and Japanese saying, "Condolences to the people affected by the typhoon, wish the disaster area an early reconstruction".
Many Japanese people showed their gratefulness to Taiyuan online.
At night, Taiyuan also turned on its lights which change colors, creating a spectacular view.
