The blood supply in Nanjing, East China, is facing challenges and blood stocks are tight due to the impact of COVID-19.
The Nanjing Red Cross Blood Center and other units are encouraging enthusiastic citizens to actively volunteer to donate blood, making sure to follow pandemic prevention and control policies.
Nanjing, a mega-city with a population of more than 9.3 million, has reported a total of 227 locally transmitted confirmed cases since a new cluster of infections began to emerge on July 20 when a few airport cleaners at the Nanjing Lukou International Airport tested positive during routine testing.
