Dragon boat racing is an ancient folk ritual during the Duanwu Festival in China, especially in the southern regions, which dates back to the Warring States Period (475-221 BC) in Chinese history.
Zhang, a local craftsman and a master of dragon boat head manufacturing, has made diverse dragon head features to represent different traditions and cultures of various villages in the city.
As a member of one of the local dragon boat teams, Zhang is training with his teammates every evening before the race on the Dragon Boat Festival.
