The first-ever pilot cadets to fly J-10 fighters graduate at the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force Shijiazhuang Flight Academy in North China's Hebei Province on July 21. The group, with an average age of 23, will soon join front-line troops.
A cadet used to need four to six years of training before becoming a qualified pilot for the third-generation fighter jets. Now a cadet only needs three years of training. The Shijiazhuang Flight Academy launched a trial version of this accelerated training program in 2020.
