On November 6, the first lit zebra crossing in Shanghai was put into use. The tiles will change colors depending on the traffic lights.

When the traffic lights turn red, the tiles, which are next to the zebra crossing will switch to red at the same time.

This new traffic system includes lit tiles and a warning stake that will take photos of pedestrians who run the red light.

When the system detects a pedestrian is running the red light, the warning stake will automatically play a warning sound "You are crossing during a red light, please go back and wait". Meanwhile, the screen will display the image of the pedestrians running a red light in real time.
