A visitor traveling to the village was shocked after seeing the shop was still selling these “blatantly racist” toys in 2018.
Show Racism the Red Card, an anti-racism educational charity organization in the UK, slammed the gift shop for selling the dolls, saying that their large lips, frizzy black hair and traditional minstrel attire are the product of a “racist sentiment,” the Daily Mail has reported.
However, the shop found the sales of these toys “acceptable” because they had changed their name to “Jolly Gollies”.
