The opening ceremony of the 2021 Belt And Road - The Great Wall International Folk Culture and Arts Festival took place on Wednesday in Langfang, North China's Hebei Province.
The festival, co-hosted by the People's Government of Hebei Province and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, will last through Friday.
This year's opening ceremony, dubbed the “Great Harmony," gathered some of the country's top-notch artists and presented a feast of arts to the audience, including folk music and dance, acrobatics, Peking opera, a piano concerto, and opera.
Apart from the opening ceremony, the festival will also feature international folk art performances, exhibitions,online performances and the closing ceremony.
A parallel session in Qinhuangdao features activities showcasing the intangible cultural heritage of the Great Wall, including music, photos, food, crafts and tours.
The festival will serve as an international folk culture and art exchange platform featuring open cooperation, mutual learning and common prosperity to promote Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei integrated development and the construction of the Great Wall National Cultural Park, and to make contributions to the exchanges of different civilizations in the world.
