Hundreds of Disney-style castle homes were left unfinished at the Burj Al Babas, a luxury housing development in northwestern Turkey, after developer Sarot Property Group went bankrupt. /VCG Photo
The abandoned housing development, located near Mudurnu, a village roughly halfway between Istanbul and Ankara, was built in the style of mini French chateaux, and cost an estimated 200 million U.S. dollars. /VCG Photo
The construction of Burj Al Babas initially started in 2014, with chateaux primarily designed as holiday homes for wealthy Gulf investors. It was also planned to house sporting facilities, Turkish baths, cinemas and a shopping center. /VCG Photo
However, since the dramatic collapse of the Turkish economy, Sarot Property Group fell into financial difficulty and filed for bankruptcy in November last year, making the future of the housing development uncertain. /VCG Photo
