Ensuring water, power and telecommunications as well as clearing the roads was the top priority after the stagnant water receded.
Residents did their best to remove silt and mud. At 2:30 am on Saturday, the first round of trying to flush away debris on the main road of the town was completed. After several more rounds, the layers of sludge have been washed away.
Forklifts, loaders, muck trucks, and sweepers worked in the streets. Sanitation workers, Chinese Communist Youth League members, the militia, and volunteers worked in the mud.
The black asphalt road has been restored to its original appearance, and the town has come back to life.
According to statistics, since Thursday, more than 50 excavators, loaders, sweepers and other pieces of heavy equipment have cleared more than 39,800 square meters of the streets. More than 480 vehicles and 6,100 tons of garbage and sludge were cleared from the streets. (Compiled by Dong Feng)
