Tribute was paid to Chinese medical staff who fought on the frontlines against the deadly COVID-19 outbreak in early 2020 at the Photo Beijing 2020 exhibition, which kicked off Sunday.

Photos that show them working at hospitals in Wuhan and other places around China as well as depicting people's everyday life during this challenging period are on display at the China Millennium Monument in Beijing.

The exhibition opened with a special section paying tribute to national heroes who made great contributions to the fight such as respiratory scientist Zhong Nanshan and military infectious expert Chen Wei.

Additionally, the exhibition, which ends on October 31, also features photos from overseas artists who captured their own lives amid the COVID-19 pandemic to show how they lived while being forced to stay at home, such as Through the Window by Saudi Arabian photographer Alameer Amal and Pray for All at Home by Indian artist Paul Pushpendu.
