The remains of firefighters who died while battling the fire in Liangshan in southwest China's Sichuan Province over a week ago have been returned to their hometowns. Their arrival took place during Qingming Festival, which is also known as Chinese Memorial Day. (Photos: VCG)
Four of the firemen from Gansu Province and three from Chengdu in Sichuan Province were buried at home in local martyrs' cemeteries on Saturday.
Families of the deceased and local people came to cemeteries to offer condolences and pay their tributes.
Thirty people died in the forest fire, including 27 firefighters and three locals who were all formally declared martyrs by authorities during a ceremony on Thursday.
The fire which broke out on March 30 devoured 20 hectares of terrain in a forest in Muli County, home to 140,000 people.
