Welcome to Meow Park, a cat paradise in Turkey. Located in Mersin, the park is built by the local government for those stray cats. (Photos: VCG)
The park is equipped with security cameras to monitor the cats that come in and provides shelter, food and veterinary service for free.
People are allowed to have some interactions with the cats though there are barriers due to the fear of harming them.
Turkey is famous for stray cats freely roaming the streets. A 2016 film called Kedi documented four cats on the streets of Istanbul, the largest city in the country where it’s said to house around 30,000 stray cats.
Local activities have called for concerned authorities to impose prison sentences on people who abuse stray cats and dogs.
