The Wangjiaba sluice gate, located in the Huai River of Fuyang, east China’s Anhui Province, is releasing water into flood storage in line with a state general command at 8:32 am on Monday.
Under the influence of continuous heavy rainfall, the water level of the main tributaries of the Huaihe River rose.
At present, the water level at the Wangjiaba hydrological station on the main course of the Huaihe River has exceeded its alert level at 2 am on Monday, and has kept rising.
The Wangjiaba sluice gate in the Huai River of Fuyang, Anhui Province opens to assist flood control after several days of heavy rainfall pushed water levels to 29.7 meters, 29.3 meters higher than safe water levels.
The Huaihe River Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources activated a Level I emergency response for flood control at 8 am Monday, the highest in a four-tier emergency response system, due to the grim flood situation. (Photos: People's Daily)
