Tons of recycled trash are dumped in the US since China stopped buying plastic scrap

China was the top global importer of recyclable materials for many years. It recently said it would stop buying plastic scrap saying the recycled materials are “contaminated.” /VCG Photo

Due to China is no longer buying these recyclable materials; many American recycling facilities are struggling with how to deal with the massive amount of recyclable trash with no place to go. /VCG Photo

As a result, some small American cities have created the recycling collections programs together. /VCG Photo
