Cold wave has hit many parts of China as tempratures plunge to minus 13 degrees Celsius in some regions.

Northwest China's Shaanxi Province, Gansu Province and west China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region received snowfall.

A four to eight degress fall in temperature is expected in central and east China, almost three degrees lower than the temperature last year in December, said the China Meteorological Administration.

101 flights were canceled due to snowfall, leaving 5,000 passengers stranded at Xinjiang's Urumqi International Airport on Tuesday.

Many parts in southern China embraced the first snowfall this winter on Friday, including the provinces of Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hunan and Hubei provinces in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

Hangzhou in eastern China's Zhejiang province, received snowfall this Saturday.
