The board with hand-drawn images and Chinese characters listed some common needs and feelings of the patients, such as eating, drinking, turning over, adjusting the bed, feeling pain, feeling cold, etc. It was made by Chen Yuxi, a nurse from the medical team from east China's Jiangxi Province.
The board made it easier for medical workers to communicate with patients who were not able to speak loud or speak dialects that doctors and nurses are familiar with.
