Ink brushes are used in traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy. Together with ink stone, inkstick and Xuan paper, these four writing implements constitute the "Four Treasures of Study". A highly acclaimed type of ink brush, the Xuan brush is believed to originate in the Qin Dynasty (around 200 B.C.) in Xuanzhou area of ancient China. The hair of the Xuan brush is usually made from the hair of rabbit, weasel or goat, depending on the need of its user, while the handle is typically made of bamboo. Hu Dingjiang, 40, a recovered COVID-19 patient, was discharged from Wuhan Pulmonary Hospital on Wednesday after receiving medical treatment and rehabilitation training for more than 100 days. He was diagnosed with the disease in early February, and was hospitalized in the ICU ward as one of the 81 severe COVID-19 cases in the hospital. The functions of his lungs recovered on April 5 with 40 days of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support. Then he received rehabilitation training in the hospital in the following period of over two months. He gradually regained the ability of speaking, standing and walking. Hu reunited with his wife, who is also a recovered COVID-19 patient, in the hospital on June 10. The couple were very excited when experts confirmed that Hu could return home.
