Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Beijing Organizing Committee, the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and the International Paralympic Committee have jointly decided to adjust the pre-Games events to reduce the complexity of the Games.

The International Olympic Committee said on its website that the pandemic has forced many countries and regions to impose travel restrictions, which are likely to last during the planned pre-Games events of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. It is necessary to lay out a plan tailored for the current situation.

Pre-Games events are to ensure that the venues can function in the highest standard, and athletes can compete safely.

All venues used for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics will be completed at the end of the year, according to the IOC.

The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics is set to be held in February 2022.
