Ninety-six Chinese athletes will attend the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympics, 85 of them making their Olympic debut, according to the official roster of the Chinese Paralympic delegation announced on Monday.
The Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympics will be held across three competition zones, central Beijing, Beijing's Yanqing district and Zhangjiakou in Hebei Province, from March 4 to 13, featuring a total 73 events in six sports.
Chinese athletes will participate in all six sports at the Paralympics.
The athletes come from 12 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, and seven ethnic groups. All of them are amateurs, whose occupations include workers, farmers, students and freelancers. The average age of the athletes is 25 years old. The oldest is 45-year-old alpine skier Zhang Haiyuan, and the youngest is 17-year-old snowboarder Geng Yanhong.
The Chinese Paralympic delegation will be led by Zhang Haidi, chairperson of the China Disabled Persons' Federation. The total number of delegates is 217, which includes the 96 athletes as well as coaches, staff, competition assistants, and medical personnel.
