Chinese swimming great Sun Yang will end his wait for a decision from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on the tribunal hearing of Sun and FINA versus World Anti-Doping Agency on Friday.

Chinese swimmer Sun Yang arrives for a public hearing of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for the appeal filed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) against him and the Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA), at the Conference Centre of the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace, in Montreux, Switzerland, November 15, 2019.

The decision will be published on the CAS website at 10am local time (0900 GMT) on Friday, according to the CAS on Thursday.

"The Secretary General will also announce the decision in person in front of the CAS headquarters in a short statement to the media," read the CAS release.

Sun, a three-time Olympic champion, refused to complete a doping test conducted by the international testing company IDTM on September 4, 2018, saying the Doping Control Officer and her assistants lacked sufficient authorization and credentials.

His case was later heard by swimming's world governing body FINA, who decided on January 3 this year that the swimmer was not guilty of anti-doping rule violations. WADA disagreed and appealed the decision, and asked the CAS to ban Sun for between two and eight years.
